Abstract
The Near-death experience (NDE) is an enigmatic but not uncommon phenomenon that some of cardiac arrest survivors experience while they were in physical crises or apparent clinical death. NDE often produces profound changes in their behavior and attitudes at life. But negative social response to NDE can lead them to psychosocial and psychospiritual
problems. We report one case of NDE in survivors of cardiopulmonary resuscitation during surgery under general anesthesia. When medical practitioner and anesthesiologist are informed about NDE, they are able to recognize it and assist patients to adopt and understand their experiences so that they can prevent negative psychosocial consequences.
